Chapter 8

K-2 laid on his plush, black leather sectional as he rolled a blunt. The grey basketball shorts and wife-beater he threw on allowed him to escape the Sacramento heat. The immaculate apartment seemed a little more spacious with Sacario gone. Coming to Sac from Richmond was a huge adjustment for him. He was disappointed in his Sacario’s lack of effort to become leader of the M.A.C. Boys. When Jewel was promoted, K-2 was disgusted by Golden’s decision. In his eyes, Sacario was the only person for the job, and as much as he tried to encourage and promote Sacario’s takeover, Sacario was never interested. He was happy being a part of something bigger than himself, being a part of a brotherhood. The dreams of green and gold were K-2’s only focus. He honestly thought Sacario would be able to change the M.A.C. Boys around, but he was only concerned with how that would benefit him. K-2 wanted to be in charge, and if Sacario was a four-star then he would have the power too. Pop going over to GMB was a gift from God, and K-2 knew it would only be a matter of time before he would have to answer for his sins.

After finishing the blunt, K-2 floated into his dreams of being a boss, but the loud sound of his doorbell ringing brought him back to reality.

“Hold up,” he yelled running to check the peephole.

When he opened the front door, Gabrielle tried to seductively walk in. Her 6-inch Giuseppe heels made her butt poke out even further, but she still looked like a little girl playing dress-up.

“Hi,” K-2 said closing the door behind her.

“I don’t even know why I’m here,” she said examining the small two-bedroom apartment.

“Oh, you know why you’re here. I knew you couldn’t resist all this,” K-2 said flexing.

The entire apartment was dark, but the soft light from the TV illuminated the diamond and gold chains and rings that sat off to the side as K-2 spread dark green buds across the table. Pounds of weed, coke, and pills sat waiting to be distributed, but K-2 was focused on random music videos that played in background.

“So where are we going?”

“Nowhere, girl, I’m in for the night, but obviously you don’t have shit to do, so you might as well have a seat and relax with the kid.” Gabrielle smacked her lips and did as she was told. “So what were you doing over Jewel’s house today?”

“Minding my mothafucking business,” Gabrielle snapped. She didn’t know how she really felt about her long-lost brother, and K-2 was not the person she wanted to confide in.

“Gabby, you’re a cute chick, but all that attitude you got in that body ain’t a good look, shorty.”

“To keep it solid, I was at Jewel’s because I just found out that he’s my brother,” she said as she let the words fall from her mouth, “Well, my half-brother. We just have the same dad I guess, but for all these years, I had no clue that he even existed.
